Preparing Digital Files for Competition

IMAGES SUBMITTED FOR CLUB PROJECTED IMAGE COMPETITIONS SHOULD CONFORM TO THE FOLLOWING PARAMETERS:

Version 2, February 2010

1. Colour Space = sRGB
2. Image Size = Maximum 1400 pixels horizontally; maximum 1050 pixels vertically
3. File Format = jpeg (recommended compression 12 for best quality)
4. Contain Image Title & Author’s Name in info fields

For the avoidance of doubt, DPI/PPI resolution has no relevance; if members wish to set a resolution, set at your own discretion.

Colour Space, Image Size, Title & Author Name may be set in Photoshop as follows:

Colour Space: To convert from your working colour space to sRGB go to
• Edit
• Convert to profile
• In dialogue box, select sRGB IEC61966-2.1 from drop down menu in “Destination Space” box
• OK
Image Size: to resize go to
• Image
• Image Size
• Tick “Constrain Proportions” & “Resample Image” boxes
• In “Pixel Dimension” box, if image is landscape format set width to 1400px (height should not exceed 1050px) or if image is portrait format set height to 1050px (width should not exceed 1400px)
• You do not need to amend the “Resolution” box under “Document Size” but may do so at your own discretion
• OK
Image Title: to insert title go to
• File
• File Info
• In “Document Title” box insert your title & nothing else
• Next enter your author name as below
• Author Name:
• In next box down ”Author” enter your name
• Leave all remaining boxes blank
• Click “OK”
• Finally, save your image as a jpeg file!
Image Title alternative method: if you forget to do the above
• Highlight the jpeg image in windows explorer
• Right click and select Properties
• Click on the second tab called Summary
• Enter Title and Author and click the Apply button
• Close
• If on opening the Summary tab you see a whole list of image detail, width, height, resolution etc, then click on the button marked Simple (toward the bottom of the page) and you will get the page for title and author
