Kingsbridge & District Camera Club

Nick Shepherd

I have been taking photographs for over 30 years and "learnt my trade" with a fully manual 35mm Nikon SLR and Fuji slide film. Like many photographers, I have now switched fully to digital.

Landscape work is my passion and regularly tempts me out of bed at sunrise. I love the stillness, solitude and soft light at this time of day. My preferred landscape locations are coast, moorland and mountains (when I can get to them).

I also find close up work fascinating which provides opportunities to capture unusual images in the comfort of your own home.

I am ambitious to broaden my horizons and improve. This means that I will need to take photographs which are different and outside my comfort zone. I am also entering international competitions governed by the PSA and FIAP.

With the advent of digital photography, you can be in full control from capture to end production. Nothing however beats "being out there" and that wonderful satisfaction when you know you have something special "in the bag".

Happy Shooting
