CLUB COMPETITION RULES
OPEN COMPETITIONS1. Competitions comprise four classes, Monochrome, Colour Prints, Digital Slides and Transparency Slides
2. Up to two entries may be submitted in any one class
3. Each class must have received at least seven entries for that class to be submitted to the judge
4. Entries must have been taken within three years of the start of the current club season
5. No entry should have been submitted more than twice. If an entry has been 'placed' in a previous competition it is not eligible for entry again.
6. Work produced by digital imaging is acceptable in all classes and competitions’ providing the work has a photographic derivation and is the work of the submitting photographer.
7. Trade processing is allowed in all classes, but in every other respect the print or slide must be the original work of the competitor.
8. All prints must be a minimum of 20 cm on the longest side, and must be mounted to a size not exceeding 50 * 40 cm.
9. Slides must be in the 35mm format and in 2in x 2in mounts with the spot in the bottom left hand comer when viewed right way up and right way round.
10. Members must complete a Club Competition Entry Form for all entries and Monochrome and Colour Prints must bear the members club number and the image title.
11. Each competition will be judged, as far as possible, by an independent qualified judge. At the Committees discretion, or by previous agreement, other judging conditions may be used.
12. In all classes first, second and third places will be awarded and, at the discretion of the judge, highly commended and commended. Exceptions to this rule will where there are less than ten entries submitted only first and second places would be awarded
13. Trophies will be presented at the Annual Trophy Presentation each year and will be returned the following year.
INTERNAL SET SUBJECT COMPETITIONS
The club programme will identify the format of each competition and whether entries are requested for Monochrome, Colour Prints, Digital Slides or Transparency Slides or any combination of these. Normally members are asked for up to three entries (the programme will set out any changes to this number). There is no age limit on entries, i.e. the three year rule does not apply to internal competitions.
AUDIO VISUAL COMPETITIONS
Members may enter up to two AVs. They should be no more than 7 minutes long, and supplied on a CD or Flash Drive ready for transfer to hard disk. All entries must be the original work of the member.
SLIDE, DIGITAL IMAGE, MONOCHROME PRINT & COLOUR PRINT "BEST OF THE YEAR".
These are the Clubs 'top' competitions held at the end of each season. Entries should be examples of what the photographer considers to be his best work and may or may not have been entered in club competitions previously except that entries that have been 'placed' in previous seasons club competitions cannot be entered (entries that have been placed in the current season are eligible). The OPEN COMPETITIONS rules above apply to the Best of the Year competition.
BRITISH WILDLIFE COMPETITION - FLORA & FAUNA
This Competition is for prints and digital slides, , and should depict flora and fauna of the British Isles. Titles are compulsory and should consist of the subject's English names.. Fauna in controlled sites (e.g. cages) are not acceptable, except for raptors in flight displays. Six entries are allowed - three flora and three fauna in any combination of prints and digital slides. The OPEN COMPETITIONS rules (with the exception of 2.) above apply to the British Wildlife competition.
TOURIST INFORMATION CENTRE COMPETITION
The TIC are seeking photographs of the area for inclusion in their 'Holiday Brochure’. The rules for this competition are set by the TIC and may vary depending on their requirements. Entries are judged by TIC staff.
There are 5 categories & members can submit a maximum of 3 digital images in each - preferably on CD.
The entries should be at full resolution in case they need to be printed and it's important that each entry should indicate The Category, the Title, the Location(if appropriate).
Categories are: Kingsbridge (Life & Scenes), Action, Ruiral Beauty, Water/Sea Beauty, Local Events
Entries will be retained by the KIC until their brochure is printed (usually by Easter) and for each entry used in the brochure a payment will be made. The images may be used in other KIC publications and if so will attract a further payment.
